Your first visit
Time with the surgeon who would operate. You leave with the procedure, the recovery and the figure — and you have not spent anything to find out.
What happens
You meet the doctor, describe what you want changed, and hear what is possible for your anatomy. A brief medical history is taken and your general health is assessed, because that determines what can safely be done and under what anaesthesia.
The surgeon explains the procedure, sets out the risks and the alternatives, and where it applies shows you a virtual before-and-after using photography and computer imaging. You are told how to prepare and what the weeks afterwards look like. Questions get answered until you run out of them.
There is no charge for the initial consultation. If you have to reschedule, a day’s notice lets the practice give the slot to someone else.
Bring
- A list of medications and supplements you take.
- Any relevant surgical or medical history.
- The questions you have already written down at 2 a.m.
What it costs
Surgical fees are quoted per patient at the consultation, in writing, because the same named operation is a different length and a different anaesthetic from one person to the next. The consultation itself costs nothing, so the quote costs nothing.
The two skin treatments that can be booked online carry set prices: the CSNY Renew facial is $200 for an hour, and the Diamond Glow facial is $250 for an hour.
Paying for it
Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover are accepted. A personal check is fine if it reaches the office two weeks before the date of surgery.
Financing runs through Cherry: up to $50,000 split over 3 to 60 months, with 0% APR options, so a number that lands badly in one month does not have to end the conversation.
Insurance
The practice participates with Medicare and is out of network for every other carrier. Where a procedure involves coverage or a predetermination of coverage, it is handled patient by patient for those permitted to go out of network.
Why there are no before-and-after photographs on this site.
Cosmetic surgery is a private thing, and a gallery turns other people’s bodies into advertising. Consent to an operation is not consent to be a billboard, and even patients who agree are agreeing on a day when they are pleased, not for the next ten years.
There is a second reason. A photograph of a stranger sets an expectation your anatomy may not be able to meet. Results depend on where you start, how you heal and what technique the case calls for, and none of that survives a thumbnail.
So the photographs stay in the office. At your consultation the surgeon will show you cases like yours and explain which parts apply to you and which don’t.
Questions patients ask first
Is plastic surgery right for me?
You and your physician will discuss the options, surgical and non-surgical. Your anatomy, as determined by the physical examination, guides that. Alternatives exist that may suit you better and may not involve surgery at all.
Can more than one procedure be done at the same time?
Sometimes. Combining surgeries can save time and money and lets the procedures work in concert. It is not always the right call — several variables have to be weighed, and the decision is made case by case.
Does age rule me out?
Generally, no. For older patients it is overall medical condition that determines what is appropriate and which anaesthesia is best. For children, each procedure has an optimal age range. If age matters in your case, the surgeon will say so.
How long is the recovery?
It varies by procedure and by person: what takes one patient a week takes another two. Bruising generally fades in a few days and swelling can take a few weeks. Rest and limited activity speed healing, and following the post-operative instructions matters more than anything else you do.
