The practice
Two board-certified plastic surgeons, both Chief of Plastic Surgery Emeritus at a Port Jefferson hospital, who between them have been operating at this address since 1978. Whichever one you consult is the one who operates.
Dr. Jacobs graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A., attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and graduated in 1972. He completed his General Surgery residency at Polyclinic Medical Center in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and his Plastic Surgery residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. He joined Cosmetic Surgery of New York in 1978.
He is one of only 40 surgeons in the United States — three of them from Long Island — selected to take part in the initial cohesive gel breast implant study.
He helped found the Suffolk County Solomon Schechter Day School, and still volunteers on the Port Jefferson High School prom construction committee, where the school is turned into the prom theme for one night and nobody has to drive anywhere else. He commutes to the office on his bicycle.
Dr. Warm earned his B.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo and attended the University Autónoma of Guadalajara, graduating in 1979. He completed a fifth pathway program at SUNY Buffalo Medical School and was granted an M.D. by the State of New York. During his General Surgery residency at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo he was Chief Resident for his last two years, and he completed his Plastic Surgery residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in 1988. He joined the practice the same year.
He was also one of the 40 surgeons selected by Inamed Pharmaceuticals for its cohesive gel implant study.
He was raised in Tannersville, in the Catskills, and cites his father — who helped found the Tannersville Rescue Squad in an area with little emergency cover — as the reason he answers the phone. “When people need help, you get it to them.”
Thirty years in clinical skin care, more than twenty of them here. She runs Long Island Beauty, the practice’s medical-grade skin care line, and sees most patients before and after surgery as well as on their own account.
Six years in medical aesthetics: laser treatments, microneedling, medical-grade peels and facials. She manages PCOS herself, which is why she is usually the one patients with hormonal acne or unwanted facial hair end up talking to.
The operating room is in this building, and it is accredited by the AAAASF, the American Association of Accredited Ambulatory Surgical Facilities. The practice meets 100 percent of their criteria.
What that accreditation requires:
Where a case is major, or a patient has medical problems that make it wiser, the surgery is done at a hospital as an outpatient or with an overnight stay. Both surgeons are attending at St. Catherine of Siena, St. Charles, John T. Mather Memorial and Peconic Bay Medical Center.
